A Catch Up with Lauren & Deborah Creative Artist
This week Lauren has been signed off on coasters and notebooks, after following the process from start to finish. Now it was the packing to ensure the orders arrived in perfect condition. Every effort is made to ensure the products are packed safely and it becomes a game of 3D Tetris.
Depending on the amount ordered, will decide on the size of the box to made up. The aim is to pack everything to maximise the space & stop any potential damage while in transit. Any extra space is packed with paper to give extra padding. Checking the order, twice and then placing the order in the box before it is sealed.
With the order complete, the box sealed with tape indicating the contents are 'Fragile', this precious cargo is now ready for collection and dispatch to our customers.
And now for ceramics. Lauren gets the opportunity to use Sawgrass and different templates to provide the initial designs for the ceramics. So it is back to the heat presses, one to warm the ceramics and the second to complete the pressing. Lauren can complete 9 ceramics at a time and the process is slightly different from the mugs. The presses are still set at 185 degrees, this time they are pressed for 200 seconds. The completed ceramics are moved to a heat mat to cool.
Once cool time is taken to check the ceramics for any fading or blemishes. The perfect ceramics are then finished with a ribbon.
Lauren is coming along in leaps and bounds and what wonderful original gifts.
