Week 2 - Let's See What Lauren has been Doing

~ Week 2 ~

With Lauren & Deborah Cameron Creative Artist

Starting the week, Lauren made some coasters independently and feeling happy and confident she was ready to move onto new tasks and skills. So here we go...Week 2.

Deborah showed Lauren the process for making the notebooks. It was then up to Lauren to have a go. With some minor adjustments (the tape was a little squint), the process was

straightforward and with practice came confidence and improvement. Throughout the week Lauren completed more notebooks and found her rhythm and got good results.

Next, it was mugs and a lot more is involved. Once again Deborah took time to go through the process from start to finish. It was now Lauren's turn and supported by Deborah, she completed some mugs herself.Lauren operating the mug press at DCCA

Two mug presses are involved each having a different element to complete the task. Lauren was able to increase her knowledge and application of Sawgrass and working with templates.

Lauren also developed help sheets for using the various piece of equipment, which she could refer to if needed. Excellent idea!

Preparing the template is next ensuring everything is lined up, it is time to switch on the mug press. The presses can reach 185 degrees and the mugs is required to be in the press for 55 seconds. The process is repeated on the second press and the hog mug is placed on a heat mat to cool, before completing a quality check.

With these skills mastered, we can look forward to Week 3 and see what more can be achieved by Lauren.
