 Modern Apprentice Successes  

Onwards and Upwards – MA Success 

 The Fife Job Contract (FJC) has been encouraging, supporting and developing Modern Apprentices within Employability. 

Let’s meet a few of them. 

Marnie Watters, started with the FJC some 8 years ago, completing her MA with in 7 months. From there, there was no stopping her, moving on to work with Enable before returning to the Council and currently holds a position within Social Work Children & Families Team. 

Sarah Johnstone started her apprenticeship with Supported Employment Service, spending time within the FJC. Sarah started her MA at the same time as Marnie and after a shirt break away, she has returned to the Council to be a Disability Employment Co-ordinator.

Danny Seath, started with FJC nearly 7 years ago, completing his MA and handling a caseload, along with special projects. Working with John McFarlane and Fiona Maguire on the Rising Stars, assisting with academies and career events. Danny’s career has certainly taken of, and he is now a proactive team member within the Foundation Apprentices Team, working in schools and engaging with young people. 

Umar Mohammed started with the FJC in December 2023, beginning his MA in January 2024 completing the qualification in September 2024. Umar works as an Employability Project Officer, with a caseload covering various industry sectors. Supporting the employer and the clients for up to 52 weeks.  

Danny Laing completed his Business Administration qualification while with the FJC and went on to complete the Advice & Guidance qualification in 2017 as an Employability Project Officer, moving on to be an Employability Officer. Danny’s career has seen him move to Economic Development as an investment officer. Danny and Fiona have delivered apprentice academies for various industry sectors, working closely with young people to prepare them for moving into an apprenticeship with an employer.
