All three completed the course and gained certificates for Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Bridge To Success Employability Course, Progress to Work Completion Certificate and Disability Awareness Certificate. While being supported by the Supported Employment Service the young people identified opportunities to gain work-based experience and  certificates. They visited Matrix where they were shown around the factory and the various work areas where they could gain practical work experience. This gave them the opportunity to meet the staff and workers to gain an insight into the factory. They also met the course facilitator Andy Dolan and could ask questions prior to start. They then all had individual appointments with the Employability Officer and agreed to start the course.

As well as gaining certificates they also gained valuable work experience in the following areas:

· Sewing & Soft Furnishings, learning all aspects of

machining and making a cushion

· Refurbishment, assisting with cleaning processes

for various NHS furniture

· Office and Stores, learning computer skills,

writing clock-in cards

· Deliveries, assisting with uplift and return of

various equipment

· Woodworking, learning proper use of tools/

equipment and making joints.

Course Facilitator Andy Dolan said: “All three of these young people were a joy to have on the course, they all learned so much. They are well on their way to their chosen line of  Employment”
