Finlay Hutchison started with Hatrick Bruce Ltd in March 2024, begining his journey to become a fully qualified electrician. Supported by his employer and attending college can be demanding. Working alongside tradesmen on various sites, gaining knowledge and skills have reinforced the learning from college

Fife Job Contract provided specific funding support for the employer for a designated period and employability support with a dedicated Employability Officer for 52 weeks.

Finlay has worked on multiple sites and here is what his supervisor had to say...

’Finlay is getting on very well and has a very good attitude to work. He is gaining experience mainly on NHS jobs which includes industrial/commercial type installations.

The job includes steel containment, single cable wiring, dado trunking, lighting in suspended ceilings and MCCB panel boards and distribution boards switchgear.’ Supervisor, Hatrick Bruce Ltd

It is easily seen that partnership working with Fife Job Contract and the employer can produce exceptional results.

Finlay took time to provide an insight to what he has been doing and learning.

At first it is general labouring, then quickly onto running cables and stripping cables. Following instructions is important and you always need to adhere to the health and safety guidance. College can be interesting, but it is great when you can put it into practice at work.

Finlay has also completed additional course and qualifications including Asbestos Awareness and a temporary CSCS labourer card.

Finlay is now well into his apprenticeship and all at the Fife Job Contract wish him every success in the future.
