Starting a Modern Apprenticeship and entering full-time employment can be a challenge. When you enter the world of childcare and child development there is so much to take onboard and good practice is essential. This is exactly what Lucy Mcilraith did when she started with Peek-A-Boo Nursery in September 2024.
Looking to increase her confidence and gain a qualification, Lucy was earning & learning.
Her aim is to complete her Modern Apprenticeship within 2 years, after completing her induction at work, the real hard work started.
There continues to be areas to develop and her employer is keen to support and develop Lucy as she progresses through her apprenticeship.
This is what Lucy’s supervisor/nursery manager Fiona Bristol had to say...
‘Lucy has settled well at Peek-Boo Nursery Leven. She is currently based in our Caterpillar Room for children aged 2-3 and is closely supported by her mentor, Eve, a Senior Practitioner within our team to provide high quality Early Learning and Child Care.
Lucy is undertaking her SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF level 7 with Azilo Training and is studying hard to complete her studies alongside working full time.’
